3rd Year Descriptions

Intensive Birth Training:

Depending on the available preceptors in each students area, intensive birth training sessions can be used to get the birth numbers up with both assisting and primary.

Third year students will continue on Prenatal Labs, and teaching classes.

CLC training:

Either before their third year, or after they graduate, 3rd year students need to take a week long training in Certified Lactation Counseling.  The laws are moving so that only those trained and certified in breastfeeding can counsel mothers on lactation.  Each student needs to be well trained in helping mothers with breastfeeding, and know when they need to refer out.

How CHAM Functions

Many of the courses are done correspondent. Science courses are the main ones, but except for the skills themselves, all subjects are read and covered at home before coming to the Skill Sessions.
